back to the old Railway and into the Hill in Spain

Once again this walk takes us back on to the old railway line from our First walk just in the opposite direction this time.
We as always start in Los Carasoles ( Spain ) and  this time we finish in La Alfoquia (which has shops and etc ) at the end of this walk is the old railway station

This route is a relatively easy route but like going the other way the track surface is large gravel. As it heads towards LA AlfoQuia it pass though several cutting which the abundance of bird life have burrowed out into nest , meaning when your passing there is if your quite enough a chance of seeing some interesting birds including birds of prey and Grouse, plus many small types of birds. During the walk you will pass over a other dry river which is spanned by an old and quite tail stone bridge which offers some stunning vistas in all 360 degree's.  As with the first route this route is also alive with rabbits.

This stretch of the route also offers along it's route access to numerous other walking routes. And is an enjoyable way to get to AlfoQuia on foot without having to walk along the roads.

Don't rush on this route take your time enjoy the many views and soak in the smells of lavender the sights and sounds

Walking in the Spanish Hill's

One of the many things I do enjoy is getting out and about walking , and exploring new areas and seeing new things. Which is one of the many great things about Spain the landscape is just stunning and varied.
Been based near Albox in Spain means we are slightly in land here at European relocation services and in the foot hills which offer some great walks.

The nearest route from our base for example is an old railway line which on one stretch alone runs besides the currently dry (Rio ) Ramba river the route is flanked by slopes and the descent to the river bed, and is home to numerous birds including grouse and mammals like the rabbits (a very common sight on this route ) it is also home to plenty of plants including the Lavender . It even pass through a cutting where you can see the different ages of the Earth in the form of different shades of the rock including some that are a dramatic red. On the two occasion I have so far covered this stretch I have been accompanied by a nice gently breeze and bird song. And add into the mix on this route the old Railway bridge

(not advisable to cross I instead took the path that leads to the dry river bed ) and before you reach the bridge the old railway tunnel which is at most 150 metres long you have a nice and enjoyable route.

To sum up this walk it is an easy route that any body can do with comfort. And a enjoyable way to spend a few hours soaking in the landscape and Spanish sun  (not suitable for pushchairs or wheel chairs due to the nature of the surface been large gravel pieces )
Roughly from Los Carasoles to Almajalejo

(This path is part of the old Railway of the Almanzora the Lorca -Baza  section which closed in 1985 )
The dry river bed is also a walkable route in itself and offer some interesting sights
